NOTE : As you all know - the proprietor is NOT a Carp Angler ( although conversion might take place in the coming years), however, I am committed to trying to nurture :
1. excellent fish health for the Specimen Carp for which Badger Lake aims to become known
2. good catch rates when conditions are right.
Strikes me - that with photos, we could provide detailed location,batis,wind-weather-temperature & time information to help with the ongoing scientific assessment of performance.
Perhaps we could get a form-sheet where we could input such info into a database for future reference ?
if you think that would be a good idea (as opposed to using “your divine one-ness with the aquatic gods” - let me know - might be able to include a database tool on this site.

John Hamblett, members since 1993 with one of our beautiful Leney Strain Ghost Carp Commons - this particular one just short of TWENTY POUNDS in weight. Who said something about the beauty and the beast . . .?
( Ah - YES - his wife Jackie . . i.e. implying that the fish is another beauty where the captor is the . . oh forget it ! )

Steve Price, member since 2001 with
a superb Leney Mirror of 23lbs 8oz,
taken off one of the platforms at the inlet end. 10mm Salmon Oil Pellet , Korda Short shank Size 8 hook/link, 15lb silt grey mainline.
Proud of the 26 year old rod - Steve obviously likes to save his cash for those flashy new trainers. Who says that angling & haut couture don’t mix ?

Norman Ward joined our illustrious membership in February 2005, and by the end of the following month (28th March 1.10 pm ) had bagged this Superb 20lb Mirror and already had a number of high doubles to his credit.
( Normam has also caught the same 17lb fish - now known as ONE-SCALE, no prizes ofr exactly WHY ! . no less than three times . . .)
STEADY ON MATE YOU’LL WEAR THE POOR BEAST OUT !

Mark Simmonds head is balder than even mine - and it serves him right for spending so much of his time in Bermuda. Sincere thanks though to Mark & his partner John Paton for the time, enthusiasm and the professional approach when stocking our original Leney-Strain Ghost Commons & Mirrors.
The Mirrors are linear-scaled in the main - very near “Leather Carp” in many ways.

Norm’s on Form yet again . . . with anoither nice Twenty from the top end of the lake - this time in April at 4.30 pm in the afternoon.
A nicely composed shot - but why do fish make it impossible to get a shot with that beautiful tail fin splayed out as it should be ?

Here’s Steve Price again . . .
This time with a specimen Mirror Carp of 21lbs 11 oz
Peg # 2, the usual salmon oil pellet, barbless size 8 15lb Mantis hooklink,12lb main line . This fish retained a a rule-breaking bust rig, that Steve removed, and set to rights by applying Klinik - thanks for that Steve. This is why we should all ask to inspect each others terminal tackle occasionally . . .
BE BOLD & ASK - if you care for the fish !

John Hamblett again - with the Fishery Record
- a Leney Mirror Carp of 25lbs 8 oz .
He just had to snatch the fishery record for himself, July 2005. John won’t mind me saying that his angling style is quite laid back - but no one can argue his consistent results.
Always prepared to give the bare facts run-down over the phone to prospective new members - “thanks for being a foundations-stone John” - wishing you many more years success - and maybe the first “Thirty” with a little luck . . .

Wayne Cornes, fishing his favourite Peg - #11 on the far bank, bagged this superb 14lb King Carp in about 1993. He had actually hepled net it from out of Aston Scott Working Farm Museum in 1991. What goes around comes around - or so they say !

|
|
John H, no less - just had to have three simultaneous runs and equally, manage to land two of them, a near Mirror Image at 17lbs & 18lbs
How does the song go ?
“two outa three ani’t bad . . .”
( John always has his wife, Jackie to point the camera . . .)

The 1991 Stocking - Steve Heath, Wayne Cornes & A.N Other hands on, to put them in before setting up to try and get them out again - errh - and put them back in again.
(Its a daft sport when your think about it eh ? )

Mark SImmonds & crew again - batch three for close inspection & count up, before releasing them one by one, and heading back to his dear lady wife - Heather.
( Heather Fisheries is the name of Mark’s enterprise - sounds like a shear flattery to me ! )
