A BRIEF HISTORY
Cottage Pool sits besides the Easthope Road mid-way between the Feathers Pub & Easthope Mill a ¼ mile upstream. The pool was constructed in the latter half of the 18th century, to create a focal point for Larden Cottage . In the Victorian era the pool was used as a reservoir for drinking water which was pumped via a water-driven turbine (now obsolete) sited below the far spillway.
When the house & lake were intially purchased in 1988 the entire perimeter of the pool was suffocated by sedges and rushes and the water area was under one acre - but with an immediate & extensive refurbishment program underway it was bought back to its former glory by the spring of 1990 & remains an important part of the local landscape to the present day.
The pool was stocked initially in 1988 with Leney-strain Ghost Common & Mirror Carp which had been supplied by Mark Simmonds . We still have some ot these fish in a reserve pond t present - but in many ways we are starting again from scratch with new young fish. Despite the September 2007 floods we remain focused in trying to provide high quality specimen fishing for the mature and discerning Carp Angler .
We are committed to providing high quality carp fishing & oproducing regular catches above the importnt 20lbs mark within 12 months , but additionally to provide good all-round pleasure angling for the more discerning angler.
