A BRIEF HISTORY
Badger Lake sits besides the Easthope Road mid way between Brockton crossroads & Easthope Mill a ¼ mile upstream. It is believed to have been constructed in the latter half of the 18th century, to create a natural focus point for the house opposite (formerly known as Brockton Grange when the proprietor was in residence with his family 1988 -1995) & currently known as Larden Cottage. A secondary notion was to provide drinking water for the household via a water-driven turbine below the far weir & also for grazing livestock. On OS maps the lake has always been known as Cottage Pool & for a time also served as a trout lake for the local gentry.
When the house & lake were purchased the perimeter was almost entirely suffocated by sedges and rushes -.but with an immediate & extensive refurbishment program underway it was bought back to its former glory by the spring of 1990 & remains in excellent & maturing order today.
The main Leney-strain Ghost Common & Mirror Carp were stocked under supervision of Mark Simmonds during 1991 & are thriving & growing so that today the venue is once again back in its prime & geared towards the mature and discerning Carp Angler .
Specimen Mirror Carp of 30lbs Plus are the expected prize quarry with two years . . .
