What’s in the Lake ?
- Ghost, Common, & Leney-Strain Mirror & King Carp . . .
- Tench, Rudd, Perch, Roach, Bream, Golden Orfe, Crucians & Eels
Until 2005 the aim of the venue has been to to provide Exclusive & Private Carp Fishing & Pleasure Fishing - in ideal surroundings - a litter, noise, hassle & stress-free environment, but during the year a decision has been made to further specialise, aiming at becoming a near-exclusive - Specimen Carp Fishery - with the only sub-species being Tench. This necessitates a well-defined Netting Policy to ensure the safe and monitored removal of non-preferred species - to give our preferred quarry the best possible conditions, allowing little competition and more easily sustained annual health & growth.
The Syndicate’s Netting Policy is supported by the local fisheries manager at the Environment Agency at Shrewsbury who have been involved in previous thinning operations to remove of non-preferred species. Biannually the syndicate members are given the opportunity to put forwards their thoughts on the aims and policies of the fishery - to ensure that their interests are carried through where ever possible.
Please now go to the Stocks Page if you wish to see a comprehensive list of species that have been stocked over the last 15 years. Although this list is accurate, an exhaustive census has not been carried out as this would entail draining down the lake causing stress to our prized stocks - however there are many days per year when ( due to local conditions and bright warm weather, you are likely to encouraged to consider that the figures are reasonable accurate and that there have been no major fish kills other than the few fish lost annually to herons, other predators & natural fatalities. Anglers reports - with regard to the possible presence of mink, otters, herons or cormorants is naturally key to aiding the successful conservation of the angling environment and therefore night fishing sessions are welcomed for members (subject to any member-led rule changes).
